Outside Providence grossed $3.4 million on its opening weekend, finishing 11th at the box office. The top film was The Sixth Sense, which pulled in $29.3 million on its fifth weekend.
The film would gross $7.3 million in its theatrical run.
Roger Ebert gave Outside Providence one and a half out of four stars in his review.
