Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (released in theaters on October 6, 1978) serves up a deliciously witty, jet-setting mystery comedy that blends culinary sophistication with dark whodunit suspense. Directed with effortless charm by Ted Kotcheff, the narrative centers on Natasha O’Brien (Jacqueline Bisset), a brilliant American pastry chef who travels to London to prepare her signature dessert for a state dinner hosted by the Queen.

The feast is organized by Max Vandervere (Robert Morley), the gluttonous, acerbic publisher of a premier gourmet magazine who has assembled Europe’s finest culinary masters.

However, the celebration turns deadly when the master chef responsible for the main course is found baked inside his own oven, executed in the exact manner of his signature dish.

As Natasha races across Europe’s culinary capitals, additional legendary chefs are murdered in gruesome fashions corresponding to their iconic recipes.

Enter Robby Ross (George Segal), Natasha’s fast-talking ex-husband and a wealthy American fast-food entrepreneur who pursues her to Europe under the guise of winning her back, though he quickly becomes a prime suspect in the grisly killings.

Partnering up to clear Robby’s name and stop the serial killer, Natasha and Robby follow clues from London to Paris and Venice, encountering eccentric culinary figures like renowned French chef Kohner (Jean-Pierre Cassel).

Suspicion continuously shifts toward the pompous publisher Max, whose obsessive crusade for gastronomic perfection makes him either the killer’s next intended victim or the mastermind behind the entire bloody enterprise.

Racing against time before Natasha’s own famed dessert makes her the killer’s final course, the bickering exes must untangle a web of professional jealousy, culinary snobbery, and revenge to unmask the murderer.
