Exit Wounds, released in theaters on March 16, 2001, is a hard-hitting action film that pairs Steven Seagal with DMX, delivering a gritty and explosive ride through the corrupt underbelly of a major city police force. Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, the film is packed with intense fight sequences, car chases, and a compelling plot of betrayal and redemption, making it a solid entry in the action genre.

Orin Boyd (Seagal) is a maverick Detroit detective whose unorthodox methods often land him in trouble. After a high-profile incident, he’s reassigned to a precinct in a crime-ridden district. There, he uncovers a massive conspiracy involving corrupt police officers who are dealing drugs and engaging in other illicit activities.

Boyd’s investigation leads him to Latrell Walker (DMX), a charismatic but mysterious figure who appears to be a drug lord but might have his own reasons for operating outside the law. As Boyd delves deeper, he finds himself up against a powerful network of dirty cops, forcing him to rely on his street smarts, martial arts skills, and an unlikely alliance to expose the truth and bring the corrupt officers to justice.

Seagal delivers his signature stoic and formidable performance as Boyd. His martial arts expertise is on full display, with bone-crunching fight choreography that reminds audiences of his action prowess. Seagal effectively portrays Boyd’s unwavering moral compass in a world of moral ambiguity.

DMX provides a charismatic and surprisingly nuanced performance as Walker. His presence brings a raw energy to the screen, and his character’s complex motivations add depth to the film’s central mystery. The dynamic between Seagal’s calm intensity and DMX’s street-wise swagger creates an engaging partnership.
