Holiday in Handcuffs (premiered on December 9, 2007) jingles onto the screen as a delightfully wacky, heart-driven holiday rom-com that turns a desperate Christmas crisis into an unexpectedly sweet romantic adventure. Directed by Ron Underwood, the story follows Tracie Hertz (Melissa Joan Hart), an aspiring artist working as a struggling waitress who feels like a constant disappointment to her high-achieving family.

With Christmas fast approaching, Tracie suffers a disastrous sequence of events: she fails an important job interview, gets fired from her job, and is dumped by her pretentious boyfriend right before she is scheduled to bring him home for the holidays.

Fearing her family’s relentless judgment, a panicked Tracie takes desperate measures.

She kidnaps Nick Morone (Mario Lopez), a handsome customer at her diner, at gunpoint with a toy pistol, ties him up, and forces him to accompany her to her family’s remote snowy cabin.

Upon arrival, Nick tries to expose his abduction, but Tracie’s eccentric family – including her overbearing parents (Tim Bottoms and Markie Post), her quirky brother Chandler (Kyle Howard), her competitive sister (Vanessa Evigan), and her delightfully sassy grandmother (June Lockhart) – mistakenly dismiss his frantic protests as a playful insider joke.

As Nick repeatedly attempts to escape, he gradually witnesses the warmth and chaotic dysfunction of Tracie’s family.

As the festive weekend unfolds, genuine affection blossoms between the captor and her prisoner, forcing both to decide if their fake relationship could become a real Christmas miracle.
